LABUAN: Labuan Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Datuk Dahlif Singh (left) said the holiday plans of thousands to visit Labuan from Sabah and vice versa during the long TYT and Hari Raya birthday break were dashed yet again.

“All because the relevant Sabah Ministry is unable to make the jetty at Jesselton Point operational despite the Federal Territories Minister giving the green light for the ferry service between both places to resume on Dec. 15, 2024.

“Christmas, then New Year, Chinese New Year and now Hari Raya has come and gone and the much-awaited Labuan-Kota Kinabalu Express ferry is still not in operation.

“Yet the Sabah side has not made known what is the problem that it is unable to get the jetty that had not been used since Covid-19 ready. We are talking about a simple jetty for a fast boat service and not a luxury cruise liner. The Labuan-KK ferry service is also not new. It had been in operation for years until disrupted during the outbreak of Covid 19”.
