LABUAN: An Indian community leader here has expressed surprise and disappointment that this time there is no representation from the community in the seven-member Advisory Council of the Labuan Corporation.
Datuk Ramasamy Rengasamy who is also a former long-serving Chairman of MIC added: ‘’The new composition without the inclusion of an Indian candidate did not reflect diversity and is not in line with the emphasis of Unity by the new government, since it was not all-inclusive.’’
Questioning the reason Ramasamay noted ‘’though the community is small it plays a significant role economically and contributes to the island and we have calibre individuals for the position as proven that in the past there usually was an Indian councillor.
