URB officer injured in chase for cable theft suspect

A Motorcycle Patrol Unit officer from Kluang was injured after falling from his motorcycle while pursuing a cable theft suspect at Jalan Doraet.

KLUANG: A Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB) officer from the Kluang District Police Headquarters (IPD) was injured after falling from his motorcycle while pursuing a cable theft suspect at Jalan Doraet early this morning.

Kluang deputy police chief Supt Nik Mohd Azmi Husin said the incident occurred at 1.57 am while the officer was chasing a suspect driving a Mitsubishi vehicle with stolen cables tied to the vehicle’s rear.

He said police confirmed the incident after videos of the pursuit circulated on the Threads social media platform.

“At 5.54 am, police received a report from the motorcycle patrol officer involved in the chase stating that one of them fell during the incident.

“Police are currently tracking down the suspect, and members of the public with any information are urged to contact the nearest police station,” he said in a statement today.

Nik Mohd Azmi added that police are investigating the case under Section 379 and Section 353 of the Penal Code.
