US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle reportedly sought $100,000 from a Trump donor and offered access to top officials, WSJ reports

ATHENS: The United States’ Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, sought $100,000 from a donor and offered access to top administration officials, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.

Several Democrats have accused Guilfoyle — a former fiancee of President Donald Trump’s son, Donald Jr — of promoting the commercial interests of a Greek company during official engagements and called on the US State Department to review her conduct.

Guilfoyle offered to use her sway to help Trump donor Eric Deters on tax and legal issues, and asked him to pay a $100,000 bill she owed American Express, according to the Journal.

“It won’t show up anywhere if you wire money to American Express. Please,” she reportedly said in Signal messages to Deters.

“Honey please I need you to get this done for me today,” she wrote in July 2025, days before the confirmation hearing for her ambassadorship, according to screenshots posted by the Journal.

Deters said he did not make the payment. A lawyer for Guilfoyle told the Journal that the ambassador disputed the authenticity of the messages.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio declined to comment on the article on Thursday.

Rubio was in Athens to participate in a “strategic dialogue” with NATO member Greece on regional and energy security, as part of a European tour.

A US Embassy official told the Journal that “Guilfoyle’s career in and out of public service is guided by deep and abiding values.”

“She was fully vetted by the bipartisan Senate Foreign Relations committee and confirmed by the US Senate. The Ambassador remains committed to representing the American people with dedication and integrity,” the official said.

Deters, the Trump donor, said his dealings with Guilfoyle began in 2020 but she “never came through” on favors promised to him.
