The US Treasury announces new currency bearing President Trump’s signature will be issued for the nation’s 250th anniversary, a first for a sitting president.
WASHINGTON: US paper currency will soon bear President Donald Trump’s signature, the Treasury Department announced.
The historic change, a first for a sitting American president, will coincide with the country’s 250th anniversary in 2026.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the move recognises Trump’s leadership and the nation’s historic achievements.
“There is no more powerful way to recognize the historic achievements of our great country and President Donald J. Trump than US dollar bills bearing his name,” Bessent stated.
He added that issuing the currency at the Semiquincentennial is only appropriate.
The Secretary said the US is on a path toward unprecedented economic growth and lasting dollar dominance under Trump’s leadership.
