A second Tehran university was hit in a US-Israeli strike, with Iranian officials condemning the attack as an assault on knowledge and culture.

TEHRAN: Another university in Tehran was attacked in a strike that comes just days after one of the nation’s leading universities was also hit in the capital, according to a report by the Iranian state news agency IRNA.

Sharif University was hit during the US-Israeli attacks, the report confirmed, with University President Masoud Tajrishi strongly condemning the airstrike.

“Sharif University is an academic institution whose mission lies in the field of culture and the dissemination of knowledge,” he was quoted as saying, adding that there were no fatalities.

Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref said bunker-busting bombs were deployed in the attack, which he slammed as a “symbol of the madness and ignorance” on the part of US President Donald Trump.

“He does not understand that Iran’s knowledge does not lie in concrete,” Iranian media quoted him as saying, adding that “the real bulwark is the will of our professors.”

The latest hit comes after the medical research institute and the laboratory building at Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran were almost completely destroyed in an attack on Friday.
