KHORRAMSHAHR: A reported US-Israeli air strike hit a commercial terminal at the Iran-Iraq border on Saturday, killing one person.
Iranian media attributed the attack to “American and Zionist enemies.”
The strike targeted the Shalamcheh border crossing terminal in the southwestern city of Khorramshahr.
Mehr news agency cited Khuzestan province deputy governor Valiollah Hayati as confirming the assault.
“An Iraqi driver was killed and two Iranian workers were wounded,” Hayati told the ISNA news agency. The attack occurred at 11:00 am local time.
In response, Iraqi authorities immediately suspended all trade and passenger movement through the Shalamcheh crossing.
Border Ports Authority chief Omar Al-Waeli confirmed the closure to the Iraqi News Agency.
