  • Families have begun publicly identifying the victims, though the Pentagon has yet to officially name them.
  • Among the deceased were Major Alex Klinner, a recently promoted pilot and father to twin seven-month-old children who had been deployed just a week before, and Sgt. Tyler Simmons from Ohio.
  • The aircraft was supporting Operation Epic Fury, a conflict between the U.S. and Iran launched by President Donald Trump.
  • U.S. Central Command said that the crash occurred in “friendly” airspace and was not due to hostile or friendly fire.
