The US Women’s hockey team appeared to take a subtle swipe at Donald Trump during a surprise cameo on Saturday Night Live.

Hilary Knight and Megan Keller joined men’s team stars Jack and Quinn Hughes on stage during the show, all wearing USA jerseys with their Olympic gold medals.

The moment followed a week of headlines surrounding a controversial presidential remark. Knight delivered the line that drew the biggest reaction.

Hilary Knight’s SNL line follows the Donald Trump controversy

In a clip shared by MMPadellan, Hilary Knight said: “It was going to be just us, but we thought we’d invite the guys, too.”

The comment referenced the fallout from President Donald Trump’s congratulatory call to the men’s team after their overtime gold medal win over Canada.

During that call, Trump invited the men to his State of the Union address before joking that he would also have to invite the women.

The remark was widely criticised, with Knight previously describing it as distasteful and unfortunate.

The SNL appearance flipped the narrative. By delivering the invite line on live television, Knight reframed the episode into a comedic moment, earning loud applause from the audience.

The cameo also featured the Hughes brothers, underscoring unity between the men’s and women’s squads after what had become an uncomfortable public debate.

Some members of the men’s team later acknowledged they could have reacted differently during the original call.

On SNL, the women controlled the tone. A tense controversy became a sharp one-liner, and the crowd made clear which side owned the stage.
