
KENINGAU: The government through the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti) is committed to collaborating with various relevant parties to adapt technological solutions that have an effective impact in ensuring the security of food supply at an affordable cost.
Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup said the field of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) is very broad and has great potential that can offer the best solutions that can facilitate daily work including in the agriculture and plantation sector.
“Among the efforts carried out to help farmers is the development of an ecosystem for the application of drone technology in agriculture,” he said when officiating the 6th Annual General Meeting of Keningau District Sustainable Oil Palm Planters’ Cooperative Berhad held at SMK Sook here.
Arthur, who is also Pensiangan Member of Parliament, said the use of drone technology in the agricultural sector could increase yields, reduce dependence on foreign workers and provide job opportunities for farmers, especially in rural areas.
