Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) and Huawei Malaysia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry, with a focus on education, talent development, innovation and graduate employability.
The agreement establishes a framework for both organisations to explore opportunities in areas including knowledge sharing, industry-academia engagement, skills development and workforce preparation. It is also intended to give students, educators and professionals greater opportunities to exchange knowledge and gain exposure to industry perspectives.
Under the MoU, UTP and Huawei Malaysia may collaborate through seminars, conferences, workshops and academic engagement activities, alongside innovation and entrepreneurship programmes. The two organisations will also explore skills development and graduate employability initiatives, as well as opportunities to exchange perspectives on emerging technologies, industry requirements and future workforce needs.
For UTP, the partnership forms part of its efforts to strengthen engagement with industry and provide students and its academic community with exposure to developments outside the classroom.
The MoU exchange ceremony was witnessed by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, YB Datuk Chang Lih Kang, and took place alongside UTP’s World Engineering, Science and Technology Congress (ESTCON) 2026 at the Penang Waterfront Convention Centre.
