Steve Bruce admits that he had no idea about youngster Matty Longstaff.
Bruce was quickly aware of the player's older brother Sean, given his exploits in the Premier League last season.
But Bruce did not know much about Matty before taking the job in the summer.
And now he is set to give the younger Longstaff his debut in the Carabao Cup against Leicester City.
"I didn't know anything about him until five weeks ago," said Bruce to reporters.
"I saw this bright red face running around China - I thought he was going to burst! I thought, 'Is he alright?'. He's the way I used to go when you're red like that in the heat.
"But Matty has got bounds of enthusiasm. He's impressed me enormously over the last four, five weeks. He's been training with us all the time so I think it could be a good time to give him his debut."
