Manchester United are edging ahead of Real Madrid in the battle for Lyon teen Mathis Rayan Cherki.
The Telegraph says United are lining up an attempt to sign Lyon's 15-year-old prodigy Rayan Cherki, who has also been linked with Real Madrid .
They have identified the teenager as a promising future prospect and are set to battle Madrid along with other European giants for the signature of the player.
Rayan Cherki is eligible to move within the European Union on August 17, which is when he turns 16, and it is expected a number of clubs will propose an offer.
He already plays for Lyon Under-19s and he could yet be tempted into signing a contract with his boyhood club.
