VACC lauds BOC official as Nepomuceno’s anti-corruption drive gains ground

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs’ (BOC) campaign to strengthen integrity, crack down on smuggling and modernize operations gained a boost from civil society as the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) honored a BOC official for his role in implementing the agency’s reforms.

Siegfried L. Manaois, special deputy collector of the BOC at the Nino Aquino International Airport received a Plaque of Recognition from the VACC during ceremonies marking the group’s 28th founding anniversary on August 28 in Quezon City.

The recognition cited Manaois’ work in translating Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno’s Integrity, Accountability and Modernization strategy into concrete measures at the port level.

The reforms were carried out under the leadership of NAIA District Collector Maria Yasmin Obillos Mapa, with the port stepping up revenue collection, border enforcement, audit compliance and coordination with other law enforcement agencies.

Manaois led the Paircargo Assessment Composite Division, which generated ₱26.42 billion in revenue in 2025, exceeding its collection target.

The division also earned a “Zero Audit Findings” rating during the Bureau’s ISO surveillance audit, which the BOC cited as evidence of tighter internal controls and compliance.
