REAFFIRMING its dedication to environmental sustainability and sound waste management, Valenzuela City has forged an agreement with Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz Philippines (Cceap) to enhance the implementation of the “Tapon to Ipon” (Waste to Earn) Program.
The partnership, through the City Environment and Natural Resources Office in coordination with Barangay Ugong officials, marks a significant step forward in the city’s efforts to enhance plastic waste recovery and foster a circular economy at the grassroots level, Mayor Wes Gatchalian said.
Under the agreement, Cceap turned over a baling machine, now installed at the material recovery facility in the same village, to facilitate the efficient collection, compaction, and recycling of PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) plastic bottles.
“The new equipment is expected to boost the barangay’s plastic recovery capacity, encourage proper waste segregation among residents, and make recycling more accessible and streamlined for the community,” Gatchalian said.
