KOTA KINABALU: Sabah leaders have urged the public to appreciate land and agriculture, stressing their vital role in sustaining livelihoods, especially in rural communities.
Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam said that even those not directly involved in farming still rely on the sector for economic stability and food security.
Speaking at the KDCA Kapayan Kaamatan Festival 2026, he highlighted the need to preserve cultural values, unity and the state’s natural resources to keep Sabah harmonious and prosperous.
He also called on the public to respect the state’s diversity, noting shared cultural traits across communities, such as traditional instruments like the gong.
Joachim added that Sabah’s rich cultural heritage, particularly during Kaamatan, has strong potential to boost tourism and attract visitors to the state.
