Former Holland star Rafael van der Vaart is backing Bayern Munich's move for Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt.
Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic was expected in Turin today for talks over De Ligt's transfer.
"It is a great idea from Bayern and Salihamidzic should really get the credit for that," Van der Vaart told Sport1. "I would love it for Matthijs and it would also be the right step for him. He is a great player. He is still young (22) and a top-class defender with footballing qualities.
"Matthijs would be a perfect fit for Bayern."
Meanwhile, Bayern chief Oliver Kahn said: "We are satisfied with the quality of our centre-back.
"But we can certainly make further steps in the field of leadership, verbal qualities and presence."
