Dutch coach Wim van Hanegem has offered advice to Erik ten Hag over his Manchester United problems.

Former Ajax coach Ten Hag has lost his opening two games as United manager.

Van Hanegem told AD: "I got the idea that that situation makes people happy. I do not belong to that category. I would find it annoying if Erik ten Hag had to leave the field quickly.

"But when Frank de Boer was killed at Inter and later at record speed at Crystal Palace and Mark van Bommel at VFL Wolfsburg, then you also saw triumphant faces here and there.

"With zero points now against Liverpool, while the club is already on fire, it's not good.

"I would advise him to stop building up in his own penalty area. I know it's fashion, but it makes no sense. It cost the team 2-0 after Christian Eriksen lost the ball. This team is not there or not ready yet. Let your last line connect nicely and look for it a little further on the field, I would say.

"And what I also find strange is that there are all the names of possible purchases that Ten Hag has already worked with. I wouldn't do it and certainly not at Manchester United. Lisandro Martínez was already burned down and they charge extra for that to the trainer who worked with him."
