- The levy aims to safeguard the city from overtourism, a concern previously highlighted by Unesco, as about 30 million tourists visit annually, with seven out of ten being daytrippers.
- In 2026, the fee will be in place for 60 days across the peak season, compared to 54 days in 2025.
- Exemptions from the fee include workers, residents, disabled individuals, those visiting residents, and tourists staying overnight in Venice.
