Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday launched a book detailing his 35-year association with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The book, titled ‘Apnapan: Narendra Modi Sang Mere Anubhav’, was released at the NASC Complex in Pusa, New Delhi.

The book was formally launched by former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda.

Several chief ministers from nearly a dozen states, including Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan, attended the event.

Chouhan said the book is more than just a publication for him and reflects the warmth and closeness he experienced while working alongside Modi over the years.

He said the book includes experiences from the 1991 Ekta Yatra till the present day. During the yatra led by Murli Manohar Joshi, Narendra Modi had served as the organisational in-charge.

He also highlighted how PM Modi’s ‘Kanya Kelavani’ initiative in Gujarat inspired his own vision for women empowerment and girl child education.

According to Chouhan, the book aims to inspire the youth.

He said it highlights lessons in discipline, dedication, sacrifice and building strong human connections to achieve larger goals.

The book also focuses on the PM’s leadership style, governance, public service and policymaking from a personal perspective.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan took oath as a Union Cabinet Minister in PM Modi’s government on June 9, 2024.

According to the Rural Development Ministry, ‘Apnapan’ is a deeply personal and reflective work that chronicles Chouhan’s experiences, observations and learnings his political and organisational association with PM Modi over three decades.

The book traces their journey from their early days as workers of the BJP to serving as chief ministers of their respective states and later working together in the Union government.

More than a memoir, the book explores themes of leadership, public service and nation-building. It highlights principles such as ‘seva’, ‘antyodaya’, ‘jan bhagidari’, “nation first” and “lok kalyan”, which Chouhan describes as central to governance and public life.
