- Tennessee’s governor said there are “very few answers” about Christa Pike’s botched execution after she survived two lethal injection attempts on Wednesday night.
- Officials still haven't explained what went wrong during the failed execution, which was called off after she was given an initial and backup dose of the drug meant to kill her.
- Pike was taken to a hospital and it isn’t clear whether she is still alive. Her attorneys said they didn’t have any information about her condition.
- “There are very few answers this morning. It’s very early," Gov. Bill Lee told reporters Thursday at an unrelated event. He said he had received no updates on Pike's condition, adding: "The people of our state deserve to have those questions answered."
- He called what happened “deeply disturbing” and said it appeared prison staff followed procedure, which involved using a second, backup dose of pentobarbital after the first dose failed.
