  • British pet owners travelling to the EU from England, Scotland, or Wales can no longer use EU pet passports.
  • A new Animal Health Certificate (AHC) is now mandatory for each trip, issued by a vet within 10 days of travel.
  • The AHC is valid for up to six months for onward travel within the EU and re-entry to Britain, provided rabies vaccinations remain current.
  • EU pet passports are now exclusively for individuals whose main residence is within the EU.
  • Travellers should verify specific entry requirements for their destination country and note new rules regarding pet accompaniment and the maximum number of pets allowed.
