Vico announces turnover of Pasig education materials

PASIG City Mayor Vico Sotto announced on Friday evening that the city government had turned over reading materials and portable science laboratories to the Department of Education Schools Division Office.

The turnover covers more than 500,000 leveled reading books in English and Filipino for kindergarten to Grade 6 learners under the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning program, aimed at addressing learning gaps.

The city distributed 1,725 sets of leveled reading books, each containing five reading levels and about 150 books, with teacher training included, at a total cost of P66.76 million.

It also turned over 3,450 ARAL reading kits for Grades 2 to 6, including Level 1 and Level 2 kits with phonics, vocabulary, comprehension and assessment materials amounting to P77.63 million, inclusive of training.

Pasig City further provided 28 Visser (versatile instrumentation system for science education and research) science kits for junior high schools, developed with the Department of Science and Technology and the University of the Philippines, each containing a handheld device, sensors and setups, accessories and consumables, and laboratory manuals, with teacher training included, costing P2.24 million and funded through the Special Education Fund.
