
- Multiple people have died following a collision involving a police vehicle and a Volkswagen Passat in Teesside.
- The fatal crash occurred at around 3.39am on Saturday on the A66 in South Bank, near Middlesbrough, after a police car launched a chase.
- North East Ambulance said that despite paramedics’ best efforts, a “number of people” had died at the scene.
- The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) confirmed it has launched an investigation into the fatal crash.
- Officers are working to identify the victims and contact their families.
