CHIEF Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor expressed sadness over the fire that destroyed a vast area of Kg Bahagia, Batu Sapi, Sandakan, early Sunday.

The victims have since been relocated to temporary evacuation centres while awaiting further assistance from authorities. No fatalities have been reported.

Hajiji said the State Government has mobilised all relevant agencies to ensure the safety and welfare of victims, as well as to channel emergency aid to those affected.

“The priority right now is to ensure the welfare of all victims is upheld, including the provision of temporary shelter, food supply and other necessities,” he said in a Facebook post on Sunday.

The State Government is monitoring developments continuously to ensure all forms of assistance can be delivered swiftly, in a coordinated and effective manner.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
