The crew lunch aboard the Artemis II features an unexpected variety of dishes and even sauces.

The historic space craft launched on Wednesday (1 April), carrying the first crewed mission to the Moon since Apollo 17 in 1972.

Footage posted by NASA on Friday (3 April) shows astronaut Jeremy Hansen unpacking meals.

The video's voiceover says some of the lunch options for the day were “beef stew, roasted turkey, cauliflower and cheese, cherry blueberry cobbler, butternut squash” as well as “cheese tortellini, vanilla pudding, and the most appetising chocolate pudding cake”.

Surprisingly, the space ship also has various spreads and sauces onboard, including “ maple syrup, chocolate spread, peanut butter, hot sauce, spicy mustard, strawberry jam, honey cinnamon and almond butter.”
