Three days after the murder of ASI Joga Singh, a video purportedly released by Tehreek-e-Taliban Hindustan (TTH) has surfaced on social media, showing armed assailants on motorcycles shooting the police officer.
The video closely matches images that appeared in a poster circulated on social media shortly after the incident on Sunday.
Hours after ASI Joga Singh was killed in Majitha, a poster claiming responsibility for the attack appeared on social media on Sunday evening. Attributed to the little-known outfit TTH, the poster also issued fresh threats against security personnel and government officials.
The same outfit earlier claimed responsibility for the killing of two policemen in the Dorangla area of Gurdaspur district this year, raising serious concerns among security agencies.
Although the authenticity of the poster and the video has yet to be verified, the police are investigating all possible angles.
SSP Suhail Qasim Mir said, “We are looking into all angles, including the poster that surfaced on social media.”
The terror outfit claimed its “Al-Buraq squad” carried out the attack in Hamja village, Majitha. The statement warned of more such strikes against police personnel, army members, and intelligence officials across the region. It also said a video of the attack would be released soon.
ASI Joga Singh, posted in the Traffic wing of Amritsar Police Commissionerate, was on his way to duty when unidentified armed assailants opened fire on him. He died on the spot with multiple gunshot injuries.
Following the incident, police launched a massive search operation in and around Majitha. Investigators are examining several possibilities, including terror links, the involvement of organised criminal gangs, and potential cross-border connections. However, there has been no significant breakthrough in the case so far.
