Footage shows Tenerife blanketed in snow after Storm Therese triggered a state of emergency across the island, bringing winds of up to 75mph, heavy rain, and freezing conditions.

The disruption began on Wednesday (18 March), as Spain’s meteorological agency Aemet issued yellow and orange weather warnings across the Canary Islands.

Videos shared online showed residents navigating icy roads, while access to Mount Teide and other routes was closed due to the risk of flooding and snow.

Authorities activated the Island Emergency Plan, advising against unnecessary travel.

Meanwhile, the UK is set to see a spell of settled weather with sunshine and dry conditions expected.
