The Merdeka celebrations 2 weeks ago saw Malaysians come out on the streets of KL in the thousands to witness the National Day Parade.
The energy and patriotism were palpable as droves of people filled every nook and cranny they could find to try to get the best view of the parade.
And it seems like the same enthusiasm (albeit on a smaller scale) to celebrate our nation has carried forward to Malaysia Day celebrations today.

A huge crowd of young and passionate Malaysians in traditional costumes, sarong, and retro outfits showed up at various train stations this morning to participate in the highly-anticipated Keretapi Sarong.
These people did NOT come to play!
Spirits were high as participants sang and danced their way to a “secret location”, this year’s being Pavilion Bukit Bintang, where enthralling performances awaited.
Here, one participant, Akmal shared on his Twitter a video of participants in the train singing a childhood song that goes back and forth between two sides, as if they are replying to each other in rhyming verses.

Nearer to the heart of the celebration, people were also joining in on various traditional and cultural dances and activities, as seen in this video by Akmal.
It was an amazing sight – everybody’s outfits were so colourful, the batik prints were exquisite and the Jalur Gemilang flags being waved fervently evoked hope for a better Malaysia.
Such a wholesome event! Hopefully, it will come back bigger and better next year.
