Arsenal's Premier League title hopes are not over for the long-term despite a setback.

That is the view of former Crystal Palace boss and Gunners hero Patrick Vieira.

The Frenchman spoke before Arsenal lost 4-1 to Manchester City in the Premier League on Wednesday.

"We are going to try to win, that's for sure, but after that there is another five games," Vieira told BT Sport.

"You see the fixtures and all the results that are happening, there is still a long way to go."

He added: "I believe Mikel [Arteta - manager] and his staff deserve a lot of credit. Because this is a really young team - really talented, but still really young.

"When you're looking at the problems from last year, it's really positive for the future. I believe this team, if they manage to stick together, they will grow and the future is ahead of them and they will win the title.

They are progressing, they are getting better on the field, they are understanding the game, and I believe that they are really close."
