KUALA LUMPUR – Vietnam will reduce the visa-free stay for Indonesian passport holders from 30 days to 14 days beginning July 15.
The new policy applies to holders of regular passports travelling for tourism or family visits.
According to the Indonesian Embassy in Hanoi, travellers planning to stay longer than 14 days or visiting Vietnam for purposes other than tourism or family visits will be required to obtain a visa.
"For stays exceeding 14 days or other travel purposes, a Vietnamese visa is required," a poster by the Indonesian Embassy in Hanoi reads.
The embassy also urged Indonesian travellers to review their travel plans carefully before departing to ensure they comply with the revised entry requirements.
According to the state-run Vietnam News Agency, the country welcomed nearly 12.3 million international visitors in the first half of 2026.
The agency also reported that the number of Indonesian visitors to Vietnam increased by 26.5 per cent during the period.
