AN alert delivery rider turned over two plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu valued at P68,000 to the San Juan City Police Station (CPS) on Friday.
Authorities reported that a 49-year-old male Lalamove rider turned over the parcel at 10 a.m. on Oct. 16, 2026, at the San Juan CPS.
According to the report, at 8:34 a.m., the rider picked up a small box from a fast-food chain in San Jose, Rodriguez, Rizal.
The parcel was supposed to be delivered to an address in Bacoor, Cavite.
While traveling toward the delivery destination, the rider reportedly grew suspicious of the parcel’s contents. He approached district traffic enforcement unit (DTEU) personnel and brought the package to their attention.
Upon inspection, the parcel contained two small, heat-sealed plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu. The rider, together with the DTEU personnel, subsequently proceeded to the San Juan CPS and turned over the items to the Station Drug Enforcement Section.
BGen. Roman Arugay, district director, underscored the importance of public vigilance and cooperation in preventing the transport and distribution of illegal drugs.
“The vigilance and sense of responsibility demonstrated by the rider serve as a reminder that every member of the community can contribute to public safety. We encourage the public to promptly report suspicious activities to the police and continue working with law enforcement in keeping our communities safe. The Eastern Police District remains steadfast in its campaign against illegal drugs and in ensuring that every report is properly investigated in accordance with the law,” Arugay said.
An investigation is ongoing to identify the individual who booked the parcel and determine the circumstances surrounding the attempted delivery. Concerned Police units in Rodriguez, Rizal, and Cavite have been contacted for coordination.
