KUALA LUMPUR – Tan Sri S.A. Vigneswaran has defended his MIC presidency for the third consecutive term, which he won uncontested.

This came after nominations for the internal polls for the 2024-2026 term closed at noon today.

The decision was expected after the party passed a resolution last November to bar members from running for president and deputy president in the polls this time.

Meanwhile, deputy president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan described MIC as “more united than ever and forward looking”.

“Apart from championing the fate of the community, MIC is the only Indian based party in the country that places high commitments on the welfare and education of the Indian community,” he added in a Facebook post today.

Previously, Saravanan said he would not contest the presidency. – March 27, 2024
