Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery admits he cannot control everything about his players.

Emery has been earning a reputation as a disciplinarian who does not leave any stone unturned.

While the Spaniard admits that he does like to see his players sacrificing everything to win, he cannot micromanage them either.

"Players can always improve and they can improve their attitudes too, if they want to sacrifice their lives thinking more about football," Emery said to reporters.

"It's not only when they're here at the training ground. It's important they have this attitude when they are at home in their private lives as well.

"My idea here is the same to try to introduce and be demanding in our style of life. Because your style of life outside here at the end is being involved inside. Mentality is think football, high commitment with your club, your teammates.

"Try to be humble and accept everything to improve, everything the coaches are trying to improve with you. Really the players here I am very proud of them. It's not 100 per cent but it's clear my idea and my commitment here of how we can improve and how I want the players to take the behavior into the commitment they want to set. Some players are doing it easier than others but every player is trying to set in the same way."

He added: "I am never going to be a policeman behind them in their private lives but my advice and my completely necessary way to stay here with us is that football is the priority. Think football.

"Of course it's very important to rest and to come here being focused in practice, focused in our moments preparing the match, in meetings, and then try to feel comfortable.

"Try to support the players feel comfortable, playing with a strong structure because it's not easy for the players alone to get performances if they're not supported by a strong structure tactically, or without other players around them helping them to be comfortable.

"Sometimes one player will be worse than another but we and other players try to support and cover when one player is not playing well.

"Emiliano Martinez is playing very well but sometimes he can make some mistakes like against Nottingham Forest. He was the first ahead of other players to tell us it. Always we are supporting every player when they make mistakes, and they are being mature and responsible to accept it. It's also important for them to be responsible and mature in their private lives as well."
