Aston Villa are pushing ahead to complete the signing of Ross Barkley from Luton Town.
The all action central midfielder, who played for Villa in the past, can move for a modest fee.
Barkley put in terrific performances for Luton all season, but could not help them avoid relegation.
Recently, he has said: I want to play in the Premier League. I want to play in Europe again I feel like for the next three years maybe I'll still be in my prime years."
The Guardian states the deal is not quite a free transfer for Villa, as Barkley does still have a contract.
However, his deal with Luton does allow him to leave this summer in the event of relegation.
