KUNAK: Kampung Kunak Tiga Village Chief Panglima Abdul Lahil Sarail expressed concern about possible “new squatter settlements” appearing in the village’s coastal waters if the Pala’u or Bajau Laut community establishes a new colony there.

There are rumours suggest that some Kg Jeti residents, affected by recent demolitions, have travelled by sea to Kg Kunak Tiga to set up new homes.

“This concerns both me and Kg Kunak Tiga residents,” Abdul Lahil said.

“While we’ve had a long-standing Bajau Laut or Pala’u settlement here that’s under control, we now have an estimated 200-300 Bajau Laut squatter houses in our waters. We’re also worried about potential mixing with illegal immigrants,” he said.
