Villarreal centre-back Pablo Iniguez has extended his contract with the B team until 2023.

The defender, made in the Yellows Academy, returned to Villarreal last season from Atlético Levante, and was a key part of the promotion to the second tier of Spanish football.

The centre-back, whose contract now runs until 2023, is the second player to sign a new deal with the Mini Submarine, after Gianni Cassaro.

Iñiguez, formed in the Yellows' youth set-up, was crucial for the Mini Submarine as they were promoted.

He started 28 of the 33 league games last season, playing a total of 2,484 minutes.
