Villarreal coach Marcelino was left delighted after their 3-1 win at Real Sociedad.
Santi Comesana and Alexander Sorloth (2) struck for Villarreal, with Mikel Merino netting for the hosts.
Marcelino said: "We knew that we had to suffer against a great team and I think we competed at a very high level in a victory that, I think, was fair.
"Only after showing our best level have we been able to beat a great team like Real Sociedad.
"Let's see if we are capable of, with a victory on our field, continuing the good work done."
Finally, the coach wanted to have a few words of support for the victims of the Valencia fire: "I would like to convey on behalf of the club our regret for the catastrophe that occurred and convey our solidarity to the affected families."
