After sacking Quique Setien earlier this week, Villarreal are seeking to make a swift appointment to replace him.
And high on their shortlist is Raul.
However, the former Real captain will take some persuading to leave Castilla at this time.
Last season, Raul rejected approaches from Leeds United and former club Schalke to remain Castilla coach.
