Villarreal president Fernando Roig is sorry losing Pau Torres.
The Spain defender has been sold today to Aston Villa.
Roig said: "After so many years at the club and so many experiences, it's a special feeling. Twenty years and 19 seasons at the club, so it's a strange feeling. A great player and a great person is leaving. The truth is that we enjoyed him a lot and we wish him a great future.
"It was a good deal for all three parties and for us, within the economic balance, it leaves us in a good situation. It has had to be done and it has been done.
"With him we have reached an impressive level, so it is a satisfaction to have enjoyed Pau all these years.
"I don't remember the first time I saw him, but I do remember him in all the categories. We have both grown hand in hand. After winning the Europa League he gave me that medal, because I couldn't be in that game, but he remembered me and in a very special way."
