Two paramedics were killed in an Israeli attack in southern Lebanon in the afternoon and another wounded, the Lebanese Health Ministry in Beirut reported on Tuesday, despite a ceasefire between Israel and the Lebanese government.
The Israeli army said in response to an inquiry that it is investigating the allegations. In the past, the Israeli military has accused the Iranian-backed Hezbollah of using ambulances and medical teams as cover to transport weapons and fighters. All of these claims cannot currently be independently verified.
Hezbollah has not signed off on the ceasefire between the two neighbouring countries.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army reported Hezbollah drone attacks in the evening. According to the army, several drones were intercepted before they could enter Israel. Rocket alerts sounded in northern Israel.
The Lebanese Shiite militia also fired multiple projectiles, including drones carrying explosives, at Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon, the Israeli military added. There were no injuries.
The current ceasefire agreement allows Israel to take defensive measures against planned, imminent, or ongoing attacks, but prohibits offensive operations on Lebanese territory. Israel and Hezbollah accuse each other of violating the ceasefire. The Lebanese government is not a belligerent party in the conflict.
