A SENIOR officer of the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) has been hospitalised in a stable condition after being stabbed in the chest by a suspected drug addict during a routine urine screening operation in Kuala Lumpur.
The victim, Mohd Faizal Ali, 48, was stabbed in the lower right side of his chest at around 5.08pm on Wednesday while conducting tests with the AADK Brickfields team near a car wash adjacent to Bangsar South Mall.
Although the knife wound did not puncture his lungs, Mohd Faizal also sustained injuries to his right hand and thumb. He was rushed to the emergency ward of University of Malaya Medical Centre for immediate treatment and remains under observation.
“The stab wound, however, did not hit his lungs. The victim also sustained injuries to the fingers of his right hand. He is still being treated at the University of Malaya Medical Centre and is in a stable condition,” a source said, confirming his condition.
Brickfields District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hoo Chang Hook, stated that the police are pursuing a 46-year-old man who attacked the officer with a knife. The suspect, who was initially detained for a urine test, allegedly refused to cooperate and became aggressive, fleeing the scene before injuring Mohd Faizal.
“The suspect, a 46-year-old man, was initially detained and instructed to undergo a urine test. However, he refused to cooperate and acted aggressively, fleeing before injuring the victim,” Hoo said in a statement.
The suspect, a resident of Cheras, has been identified and the case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code.- April 2, 2026
