KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd said most viral complaints over high electricity bills were caused by unpaid charges, increased electricity usage during festive and hot weather periods, and meter tampering — not the recent tariff revision.
CEO Mohd Yaakob Jaafar said only 77 complaints were recorded out of over 720,000 consumers in Sabah and Labuan.
He revealed that about 2,000 meter tampering cases were detected from January to April this year, including one linked to a viral social media complaint.
He urged consumers to use the mySE app and contact Sabah Electricity directly for bill clarifications.
