PETALING JAYA: The Home Affairs Ministry has denied the authenticity of viral images purportedly showing the new designs of Malaysia’s passport and MyKad, saying the visuals are not official and were not issued by the ministry.

In a statement today, the ministry said the designs being shared online are unauthorised, unverified and do not represent the actual appearance of the new passport or MyKad as claimed.

“Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail had previously made an official announcement during a press conference on Jan 8 regarding plans to implement the new passport and MyKad this year.

“Any details on the designs and security features would only be announced through its official communication channels,” it added.

The public has been urged to rely on legitimate and authoritative sources to avoid being misled by inaccurate information.

Official updates can be obtained via the ministry’s website at www.moha.gov.my, as well as the websites of the Immigration Department of Malaysia (www.imi.gov.my) and the National Registration Department (www.jpn.gov.my).
