After a video went viral allegedly showing two police officers extorting immigrants, police authorities launched an internal investigation.

According to Kosmo!, Petaling Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Shahrulnizam Ja'afar said, his party detected the viral video on Telegram 'Edisi Siasat' at 5pm yesterday.

Shahrulnizam , verified that two policemen from the district's police headquarters are shown in the video purportedly holding two immigrants.

In a formal statement, Shahrulnizam stated, "We are currently conducting an internal investigation to determine the authenticity of the incident."

Two videos that appeared online previously showed the officers with a man who appeared to be an immigrant during a strange interaction at Sungai Wei. This sparked the debate.
