Police are currently investigating a viral video that depicts a man driving recklessly while holding an object resembling a gun near Pantai Batu Buruk at approximately 4pm on June 13.

Kuala Terengganu district police chief ACP Azli Mohd Noor reported that they have received two police reports concerning the 38-second video.

"However, this is not a kidnapping case," he clarified during a phone interview with Bernama on June 13.

The video, which gained rapid attention on Facebook, shows an individual holding a black object suspected to be a gun while erratically driving a white sedan. The footage reveals the driver entering the oncoming lane, maneuvering slowly by crossing the road divider.

The video was uploaded with a caption alleging that a school security guard had been shot in the stomach by the driver, who was purportedly fleeing with a child. These claims, however, have not been substantiated by the authorities.

In a separate incident, Azli reported that a Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) student succumbed to her injuries after battling for more than 18 hours following an accident involving an ambulance at the intersection near Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) on June 12 afternoon.

The student, identified as Umie Elysha Lyana Basharuddin, 22, passed away at 10:38am on June 13 in the HSNZ emergency ward. The cause of death was determined to be a severe head injury.

The accident occurred at approximately 4:30pm on June 12. The 52-year-old ambulance driver involved in the collision was unharmed. Azli mentioned that the ambulance driver filed a report regarding the accident at 6:41pm the same day. The case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

The tragic accident and the viral video have sparked widespread public concern. The police are urging the public to refrain from spreading unverified information that could cause unnecessary panic. They emphasize the importance of relying on official statements and updates from the authorities.

Meanwhile, the community mourns the loss of Umie Elysha Lyana Basharuddin, a promising young student whose life was cut short by the unfortunate accident. The incident serves as a somber reminder of the potential dangers on the road and the importance of road safety for all.

As investigations into both cases continue, the police assure the public that they are committed to ensuring justice and maintaining public safety. They encourage anyone with information regarding either incident to come forward and assist with the investigations.
