
SANDAKAN: A formal site visit was recently conducted to assess the upgrading works for the Old Ward Building of Hospital Duchess of Kent (HDOK), Sandakan.
The visit was attended by representatives from the State Health Department and the State Public Works Department (JKR), in line with the implementation of Rolling Plan Five under the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (RMK-12), led by the Ministry of Health.
During the visit, the relevant parties conducted a comprehensive evaluation to identify and define the detailed scope of work required for the old ward building.
This assessment is a crucial step in ensuring that the necessary upgrades meet safety and structural standards.
HDOK Director Dr Mohd Fahmie Othman highlighted that the project is essential in enhancing hospital safety, particularly in ensuring compliance with the fire safety notice issued by the authorities.
“The implementation of this project will bring significant benefits not only to patients but also to hospital staff and overall operations,” he said.
He expressed gratitude to all parties involved in the site visit and reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment while adhering to the required safety regulations and standards.
