PETALING JAYA: A 78-year-old visually impaired man set a record as the oldest individual to climb 100 storeys at MBPJ Tower during a fitness programme organised by the city council.
In a statement on its Facebook page, Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) said Michael Tan (pic) completed the challenge by climbing 25 floors four times to reach a total of 100 storeys.
The council said Tan, who lost his sight at the age of 27, demonstrated determination and mental strength in completing the climb.
The MBPJ Tower Stair Climbing Clinic Programme also saw participation from several health professionals, including individuals in their 60s and 70s, reflecting strong community involvement.
MBPJ said the programme promotes a healthy lifestyle and described Tan’s achievement as an inspiration to the wider public.
