VIVO MALAYSIA has launched the V80 Lite 5G smartphone, featuring a 10,000mAh battery and a starting price of RM1,399.
The launch was marked by a 10,000mAh Always Powered Glass House showcase at Lot 10 in Bukit Bintang, featuring Malaysian actor Aedy Ashraf in an endurance challenge designed to demonstrate the device’s battery capabilities.
vivo said the V80 Lite 5G is the first model in its V series to feature a 10,000mAh battery.
The device uses fourth-generation silicon anode technology and vivo’s Magic Cube Battery Packaging, with the company claiming up to 16 hours of heavy use on a single charge.
The phone is also designed to maintain constant power at temperatures of up to 45°C and comes with a 3.8K Ultra Large VC Cooling System for heat management.
According to vivo, the battery features a self-developed charging algorithm and six-layer protection system, with its capacity designed to remain at or above 80% after six years of use.
The phone also includes a Battery Life Extender, which allows essential functions such as emergency calls to remain available at 1% battery, while Reverse Charging allows it to charge other compatible devices.
vivo said the device had undergone military-grade durability testing and was designed to withstand drops of up to three metres onto carpet and one metre onto various solid surfaces.
It carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance, with the company saying it can withstand water immersion of up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes, as well as exposure to heavy rain and various everyday liquids.
The V80 Lite 5G features a 6.83-inch 1.5K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits in High Brightness Mode.
The handset is available in Afterglow Pink, Emerald Green and Dawn Black, although the Malaysian launch price applies to the Afterglow Pink variant.
For photography, the smartphone features a 32MP wide-angle front camera with a 90-degree field of view and a 50MP Sony rear camera.
Its imaging features include Check-In Watermark, which adds time and location information to photographs, and AI Erase for removing unwanted objects from images.
vivo said the V80 Lite 5G had also set a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the Longest Electronic Product Testing Livestream, lasting 32 hours and 37 minutes.
The smartphone is now available in Malaysia from RM1,399, while customers can also opt for a 12-month instalment plan from RM124.92 per month at 0% interest, subject to the applicable terms.
Pre-orders are available until Sept 11 at vivo Concept Stores and through its online platform. Pre-order customers can receive gifts worth up to RM1,145, including a Smart Projector, backpack, V Selection Earbuds and card holder, together with vivo Care benefits.
The company said Extended RAM technology would begin rolling out to the V80 Lite 5G from Sept 24 through a software update aimed at improving multitasking performance.
The launch comes as smartphone manufacturers continue to focus on battery capacity, durability and AI-powered features as key selling points in the mid-range device segment
