vivo has named Mandopop icon Jay Chou as its Imaging Ambassador ahead of the vivo X500 Series’ Malaysian launch on October 27. The pairing leans on Jay’s interest in visual storytelling beyond music. He has directed music videos and explored photography, and he told Vogue Hong Kong that directing is an outlet for his artistic ideas while photography is a form of everyday creativity.
The campaign includes an immersive unboxing of the X500 Pro Max by Jay, a campaign film that revisits the nostalgia of his song “晴天” (“Sunny Day”) through a reimagined storyline, and a separate travel film about discovering and recording new experiences.
The X500 Pro Max is vivo’s pitch for “The Ultimate Concert Phone,” and its imaging features are built around live performances:
- Telephoto: A 200MP ZEISS APO Telephoto Zoom combined with the 400mm-equivalent vivo ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra, so you can zoom in on performers’ expressions and stage details from a distance.
